The Yves Saint Laurent film directed by Jalil Lespert recounts the turbulent life of one of the most famous French couturiers, whose work was heavily influenced by his personal life.
The trailer begins in 1957 as Yves Saint Laurent, played to perfection by Pierre Niney, is named head of design at Dior. Documenting the designer's inspirations, his relationship with Pierre Bergé - his partner in both life and business - and the Ballet Russes runway show in 1976, the film retraces the history of one of the most successful couturiers from the first sketches to the final fittings on the models, played amongst others by Charlotte Le Bon.
The film, due out in France in early 2014, has been endorsed by Pierre Bergé, the co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent's eponymous fashion house, longtime business partner and former life partner of the Algeria-born design star. The film focuses greatly on their romantic relationship.
Saint Laurent passed away in June 2008 of brain cancer at home in Paris.
The film is produced by SND studios of the M6 group.--Source: Vogue Videos/Telegraph
