​FlightRadar for the MRT? Meet the App That Wants to Fix Your Daily Commute

​If you navigate Metro Manila’s transit web every day, you already know the routine: you step onto the platform, look at your watch, and hope for the best. Delays happen, breakdowns crop up without warning, and clear updates are often hard to come by.




​That exact frustration led RJ Crusem, a 28-year-old software developer from Cavite, to take matters into his own hands. Instead of just enduring the uncertainty, he decided to build TrainSight—a dedicated platform engineered to give passengers live, ground-level tracking of city train lines.

Inspired by the Skies

​Crusem took inspiration from FlightRadar24, the popular tool aviation enthusiasts and travelers use to track commercial flights across global air corridors. He asked a logical question: If we can pinpoint an airplane floating at 30,000 feet, why can’t we see if our LRT train has even left the previous station?




​To make it work, TrainSight blends crowdsourced positioning from user devices with physical tracking hardware attached directly to the train cars. The system is designed to service:

  • ​Future support ready for MRT-7

​Beyond helping you decide whether to grab a quick coffee before tapping in, real-time tracking creates public accountability. When transit operational data becomes transparent, network operators gain clearer visibility into live bottlenecks, helping technical crews resolve unexpected disruptions faster. Crusem even plans to adapt the underlying technology for city bus routes down the line.

​Crusem and his team are finalizing negotiations with transit regulators to ensure seamless integration.
