If you are tired of watching fuel prices eat away at your monthly budget, your
daily commute is about to get a massive wake-up call. A major shakeup is hitting
Philippine roads, and it might finally convince local riders to ditch gas for
good.
The Vietnamese electric vehicle giant, VinFast, has officially opened the
reservation lines for three of its highly anticipated electric two-wheelers:
the Evo, the Feliz II, and the Viper. For a completely refundable booking
fee of just ₱3,000, you can secure a spot in line before the initial batch
of shipments rolls out this coming July.
What makes this launch a massive deal isn’t just the sleek designs—it’s the
math behind running them.
The Subscription Model That Changes Everything
Historically, buying an electric vehicle meant coughing up a massive
upfront premium for the battery. VinFast is completely bypassing that
roadblock by separating the vehicle from the power source. Under their
unique ecosystem layout, you can buy the base scooter at a heavily reduced
rate and simply subscribe to the battery network.
Take a look at how the pricing scales for the introductory models:
The Evo: Starts at ₱70,000
The Feliz II: Starts at ₱72,400
The Viper: Starts at ₱81,900
Note: If you are a traditionalist who prefers total ownership, you can
buy the batteries outright for an extra ₱12,700 per pack.
Breaking Down the Daily Costs
The economic breakdown is where things get genuinely exciting for daily
commuters. VinFast’s base battery rental plan will only set you back ₱439 a
month. When you run low on power, you simply head over to a swapping hub and
trade your depleted pack for a fresh one for a mere ₱35.
To put that into perspective, a single swap provides roughly 85 kilometers
of riding distance. Covering that exact same mileage on a standard
gas-powered scooter would burn roughly two liters of fuel. At current
station prices, swapping is an absolute steal.
Speed, Range, and Infrastructure
These bikes aren't just glorified golf carts, either. All three variations
pack a punchy 5,200-watt hub motor. The entry-level Evo tops out at a
respectable 80 km/h, while its bigger siblings, the Viper and Feliz II, can
comfortably hit highway-adjacent speeds of 90 km/h. When loaded with a
dual-battery setup, you can squeeze out up to 150 kilometers on a single
charge cycle.
Of course, a swapping system is only good if there are places to swap. To
back up the rollout, infrastructure partner V-Green is aggressively building
out a local network, with a massive long-term target of establishing 30,000
swapping points across the country.
Early-Bird Rewards
The reservation window is live right now and runs until July 18, 2026. If
you pull the trigger early through an authorized dealer or their main
portal, VinFast is tossing in exclusive introductory incentives valued at
₱5,600 to sweeten the deal.
If you've been waiting for the right moment to make the electric
transition, this combination of low entry cost and dirt-cheap daily
operation might be the sign you were looking for.
