The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has authorized the implementation of the 2nd tranche of the approved NLEX 2018 & 2020 consolidated petitions for periodic toll adjustments effective June 4, 2024. Under the new toll fee matrix, motorists traveling anywhere within the open system will pay an additional ₱5.00 for Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and SUVs), ₱14.00 for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small trucks), and ₱17.00 for Class 3 vehicles. The open system is from Balintawak, Caloocan City to Marilao, Bulacan while closed system covers the portion between Bocaue, Bulacan and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga including Subic-Tipo. MPTC is beefing up operations for the Holy Week as it reminds all motorists to plan their trips accordingly. Over 1,500 traffic and toll lane management personnel will be deployed in all Metro Pacific Tollways road networks to ensure that motorists are given assistance as they head to the provinces during Holy Week.  At the same time, MPTC advises motorists to avoid traveling during peak hours for a safer and more convenient expressway experience. The NLEX Connector Caloocan-España is now open to the motoring public starting today, March 29, and toll will not yet be collected for a limited time. “We are offering free access for a limited period, so motorists can experience for themselves the convenience of using the NLEX Connector,” said NLEX Corporation President J. NLEX Corporation continues to upgrade its toll collection system as it is set to start the installation of automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) and RFID early detection features in more NLEX-SCTEX toll lanes by December 2021 and first quarter of next year, respectively.   These upgrades, which aimed at further improving customer experience, will bring the total number of lanes with ALPR to 95 and with early detection feature to 217. The data from the ALPR will also be used in the future as part of the contactless apprehension policy which NLEX and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) are currently working on.   This ALPR system uses smart cameras that read vehicle license plates for easier matching of motorists’ RFID transactions. The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 partially opens on Tuesday, December 29, and will be free of charge for a month, according to an official Facebook post from San Miguel Corporation head Ramon Ang.  The Skyway 3, which fully opens on January 14, will connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), and reduce travel time between Buendia and Balintawak to 15 to 20 minutes from the current travel time of 2 hours. Motorists without radio-frequency identification (RFID) stickers will still be able to enter and have RFID stickers installed at toll expressways beyond December 1, an official of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Tuesday. In a message to reporters, DOTr Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran said a “stickering lane” will still be available to motorists at the tollgates. Libiran said only motorists who will enter RFID lanes without an RFID sticker will be penalized. “Beyond December 1, may RFID stickering lane pa rin na padadaanan sa mga motorista na wala pang sticker.
