2021 Honda PCX 160 Launches in Japan, Larger Powerful 16hp, Price PHP189K

The 2021 HONDA PCX 160cc has just been launched with a 156cc 16 horsepower engine, exceeding the power of its competitor, Yamaha NMAX (15.2hp).

Honda previously launched the PCX 125 for the European market with a refurbished design and features.

The maxi scooter is made in Vietnam and will be sold as a 2021 model for the Japanese market. This version is also expected to hit the Asian markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia, athough there is not much information if it will be launched in the Philippines.




The 156cc 4-stroke 4-valve engine liquid cooling with eSP + technology provides higher power achieved via a high compression ratio of 12: 1. 16hp power is reached at 8,500rpm, while torque is 15Nm @ 6,500rpm, far more powerful than the previous models.




Engine technology has also improved. For instance, the hydraulic cam chain tensioner (HCCT) no longer uses spring pressure, instead utilizes engine oil pressure as used by the Honda Supra 100 and C Series models.

In addition to its larger body, the air filter is also improved to control the efficiency of air intake. The crankshaft also has a new design to reduce vibration and produces a quieter engine roar. According to Honda, the operation of the PCX 160 is now smoother on each rotation of the engine.




The design now comes with a full LED lighting feature. The brake system uses a dual-disc brake with an Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) on the front wheels, just like the existing PCX 150, and is also equipped with a torque control feature (HSTC) for more convincing rides on smooth and wet road surfaces.

The storage space under the seat is also spacious at 30.4 liters, and the frame lighter and stronger. The wheels use a 14-inch rim at the front and a 13-inch rear.




The Honda PCX 160cc  is sold for 407,000 yen (APPROX PHP189K).
