Metro Manila to suffer 20-hour water interruptions starting next week

Still reeling from the daily 7-hour water interruptions, customers of the Maynilad Water Services in Metro Manila may yet suffer another round of  agony with the proposed daily 20-hour water interruptions set to be implemented next week. NEW: Angat Rainforest and Ecological Park in Bulacan

T here's a new ecopark in the country. The National Power Corporation (Napocor) recently opened to public the Angat Rainforest and Ecological Park located in Bulacan province. In a media interview, Napocor president Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita said that the Angat watershed houses more than 290 endemic species of non-woody and woody plants such as bagtikan, tanguile and yakal. It also has about 66 species of vertebrates and 43 species of birds which makes the watershed very attractive to bird and nature photographers. The park’s view deck, ecological center and Tarictic fun trail are among its major attractions, she said. The Angat watershed is a multi-purpose facility that serves as flood control, a natural buffer zone against calamity, and source of water for irrigation of the agricultural land in Bulacan and Pampanga, for domestic water supply of Metro Manila and for power generation, she added.
