Actress-singer Toni Gonzaga will be hosting the Philippine edition of the hit reality singing competition “The Voice” as confirmed by the ABS-CBN news website.

In a recorded video which aired on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Gonzaga said “The Voice” is a singing competition with a different concept.

“We will showcase the best singers in the Philippines like you've never seen them before,” she added.

Prior to Sunday's confirmation, Tony Award winner Lea Salonga and "Pinoy Big Brother" alumnus Robi Domingo have been reported to be hosting the show. However, the production team behind "The Voice" has denied these rumors.

Auditions for the show are already underway, however, as Filipino hopefuls based in the United States have been screened last September.

Echoing the vision behind the unique twist of the original show -- the Blind Auditions, where coaches screen hopefuls with their backs against them -- director Lauren Dyogi said: "[We are looking for] somebody who has an exceptional voice."

"Compared to the other formats that we have, ‘X-Factor’ and ‘Pilipinas Got Talent,’ ‘The Voice’ is clearly about someone who has an exceptional singing voice," he added.

In the US, where it airs on NBC, the third season of "The Voice" is now said to be the No. 1 singing competition.

It is hosted by former MTV personality Carson Daly, and features as coach-judges pop star Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, soul and R&B singer Cee Lo Green, and country musician Blake Shelton.--Source: ABS-CBN News.
