In the trailer for Tom Cruise's new sci-fi thriller, Oblivion, the action star announces that 'Everyone's been evacuated, nothing human remains' on the desolate planet.
'Sixty years ago, Earth was attacked,' the 50-year-old is heard saying. 'We won the war, but they destroyed half the planet.'

The 'they' he refers to is an alien race called the Scavs who fought humans in a decades long war, but there is no sign of the creatures in the clip.
And the Hollywood heavyweight stars as Commander Jack Harper, a drone repairman, who serves as part of a 'clean-up crew' extracting what vital resources remain.
Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski helmed Oblivion based on the graphic novel he penned for Radical Comics.
The IMAX film, due for release April 12, also stars Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Zoë Bell, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
It's clear that a destroyed New York provides the deteriorated stark landscape for the story, as Harper wears a Yankees cap and the Empire State Building can be seen on the movie poster.
As the preview opens, Jack is seen exploring a hole that used to be a sports stadium alongside his dog.
The only person he seems to communicate with is Victoria (Riseborough) who works in a high-tech base ship with a cloud-filled view, but she might not be whom she seems.

The 31-year-old W.E. star reportedly beat out Hayley Atwell, Diane Kruger, and Kate Beckinsale for the part.
Harper later discovers an underground city full of human survivors led by a shadowy resistance leader named Malcolm Beech (Freeman), looking a lot like Morpheus from The Matrix.
'I've been watching you, Jack,' Beech ominously tells Jack. 'What are you looking for in those books? Do they bring back all the memories?'
And in another moment in the trailer, Harper rescues a woman named Julia Rusakova (Kurylenko) from a pod after her spacecraft crash lands.
'I need to know what happened,' Julia is heard saying.

She somehow knows Jack's name and 'triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.'
Cruise was going through his divorce with Katie Holmes during filming and shared his first post-divorce kiss with the former Bond Girl.
The Ukrainian born 33-year-old landed the coveted role over Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling, and Noomi Rapace after Jessica Chastain dropped out to star in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty.
The trailer ends in a swirl of vague action involving a sleek, orb-shaped spacecraft, and high-speed air battles.
Cruise's last film, Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol, grossed a whopping $694 million.-- Source: The Daily Mail.
