Actress Alyssa Alano Seriously Hurt In Marikina Accident
Alyssa Alano, popular actress and host of GMA Startalk, was seriously injured after figuring in an accident in Marikina City early Sunday morning, says a GMA news report.
Alano, born Geramie Daud on Aug 11, 1987, was reportedly driving her sports utility vehicle (SUV) when it crashed after hitting the center island of Marcos Highway near the SM Marikina area.
Also injured in the incident were at least four other people who were aboard a Honda sedan hit by the SUV, the report said.
Police authorities are still verifying if the actress was drunk at the time of the incident. The actress' Everest-type SUV (VFH-668) was wrecked.
Initial investigation showed that at around 4 a.m. Alano's vehicle was cruising along Marcos Highway when it hit the center island and spun.
Using emergency tools, rescue teams extricated Alano from the SUV and brought her to the nearest hospital.
Formerly of the sexy group Viva HotBabes, Alano rose to stardom after performing a cover of the song "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer at GMA's late night variety show Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman in June 2006. The footage, dubbed as "Keys Me," became a viral video when it hit YouTube.
She has been a contract artist under the GMA Network ever since she entered show business, and continues to do so.
